  • Kitchen 2 Gardens Cumberland Compost Giveaway - Auburn and Guildford

    Cumberland City is giving away free compost bags and vegetable seeds to help kickstart your veggie garden and to reduce food and packaging waste in households.

    Households are entitled to 2 compost bags and vegetable seeds. Bookings are strictly limited to Cumberland City residents and are limited to 1 per household.

    The Compost Giveaway will be held in both Auburn and Guildford.

  • July 2023 update

    Merrylands Civic Square is opening!

    Council would like to cordially invite the public to the opening of Merrylands Civic Square.

    The long-awaited $11 million Merrylands Civic Square officially opens to the public on Friday 4 August, offering residents and visitors a bustling state-of-the-art multifunctional public space. To celebrate the grand opening of the space, COuncil are hosting 'Eat, Drink and be MERRYlands, an amazing activation that is full of fun for residents of all ages.

  • July 2023 update - final stage work commencing

    The last remaining piece of infrastructure upgrade work to be completed is the construction of a new major stormwater culvert under Addlestone Rd near the intersection with Merrylands Road. This is large and complex work requiring upgrade to water main and relocation of underground utilities/services. With approval from Sydney Water finally granted, this work is about to commence.

  • May 2023 update

    Civil works have commenced along Parramatta Road.

    Civil works include the reconstruction of concrete footpath with provision for low level planting zones.

    Preparations are well underway for the relocation of overhead power and telecommunication cables underground along Parramatta Road between Macquarie Road and Station Street, Auburn.

    Public art installation is progressing in Melton Street and anticipated to be completed end of May 2023.
