March 2023 consultation:
Council invited the community to provide feedback on planning for the future of Lidcombe.
The Joseph Street Precinct Plan forms part of the Lidcombe Town Centre Public Domain Plan, which has been prepared by Cumberland City Council to guide the delivery of consistently high-quality public realm to promote the revitalisation of Lidcombe Town Centre.
Joseph St Precinct will be transformed to a vibrant ‘Eat Street’ supported by outdoor dining areas, upgraded footpaths and pedestrian crossing points, new street tree planting and greenery to provide colour and shade with opportunities for the integration of public art.

- Retain the distinctive character along Joseph St. and enhance its cultural heritage.
- Provide a high-quality public realm with attractive open spaces for promoting social interaction and a variety of activity.
- Provide attractive and revitalised streetscapes that are clean and well maintained
- Ensure that streetscape design is inclusive for all, and everyone can participate in the street life to support a sustainable community
- Improve our environmental resilience as a community and protect ourselves against future shocks and stresses including urban heat.
