Latest news on the A'Becketts Creek, Duck Creek and Duck River Flood Mapping and Study
August 2026 consultation:
In July 2026, Council resolved to undertake consultation on updated draft flood mapping and study for the A’Beckett’s Creek, Duck Creek and Duck River catchments, and we invite you to have your say.
As mandated by the NSW Government, an update of flood information, including a flood study and associated mapping, has been undertaken for the A’Becketts Creek, Duck Creek and Duck River catchment. This includes suburbs such as Granville South, Granville, Regents Park, Guildford, Auburn, Merrylands and Chester Hill.
This feedback will be used by Council to finalise the draft Flood Study. We will be accepting feedback until 5pm Monday 14 September 2026.
Following the exhibition period Council will review the feedback received and make changes to the updated draft flood mapping and study as required before finalisation.

Council will be running two pop-up sessions for those interested in finding out more information about the draft Duck River, Duck Creek and A'Becketts Creek Flood Study. Session details are below:

We encourage you to complete the online survey.

Council invites you to have your say and share your experiences of past storm events and ideas for managing flood risks.
As mandated by the NSW Government, Council is undertaking a flood study encompassing the A'Becketts Creek, Duck Creek and Duck River catchment areas. This includes suburbs such as Granville South, Granville, Regents Park, Guildford, Auburn, Merrylands and Chester Hill.
As a first step in the process, Council is seeking information from residents and owners on your experiences of past storm events and ideas for managing flood risks. This information will assist Council in better understanding local issues that can be considered in the preparation of the overland flood study.
