February 2024 consultation:
We invited the community to explore and share your thoughts on the Pippita Rail Trail, a new connection between Lidcombe Train Station and Sydney Olympic Park.
The 2.4 kilometre Pippita Rail Trail is a walking and cycling connection from Lidcombe Train Station to Sydney Olympic Park, a project which is prioritising the growing and changing needs of commuters and the community in Cumberland.
It comprises of a separated bike path for its on-road section (approx. 500m) and shared path for cycling and walking within the former Abattoir Branch railway line alignment.
Residents and visitors will be able to explore outdoor spaces, connect and socialise, and discover local history along the way.
The trail will transform the former Abattoir Branch railway line which once serviced the State Abattoirs, State Brick Works and Homebush Saleyards with stations including Pippita, Metropolitan Meat Platforms, Saleyards, Abattoirs and Brickworks.
See our masterplan maps in the Gallery for more details.
