Have your say on the Draft Code of Meeting Practice 2025
Cumberland City Council is giving notification of the Draft Code of Meeting Practice 2025. The Policy will be exhibited for a minimum period of 42 days as resolved at the 13 November 2024 Council meeting. All submissions made to the policy will be made public and considered by Council.
Policy overview
The Code of Meeting Practice facilitates and guides the effective, open and orderly conduct of Council Meetings at Cumberland Council. It ensures clarity of process, and seeks to align Council Meeting procedures with community expectations of open and transparent government whilst complying with legislative requirements. The amendments proposed are outlined in the Draft Code.
The Code of Meeting must accord with the Model document prescribed by the Office of Local Government. For more information on this, please refer to the Office of Local Government website.

The consultation period runs from Tuesday 29 July 2025 to Tuesday 9 September 2025. During this community consultation period, residents are encouraged to submit their comments on the proposal. Anyone who wishes to provide feedback on the proposal must do so in writing by 5pm Tuesday 9 September 2025.
