Following a Council resolution by Council in July 2026, a report is being prepared on Amy Street and Regents Park Town Centre to better understand local traffic and congestion, pedestrian management and road safety issues.
As part of the report, Council is seeking feedback from residents, businesses and the wider community about current traffic and transport conditions in the area. Community input will help identify key issues and inform the development of future recommendations and potential improvements.
The study will:
- Assess traffic flow and congestion on Amy Street and key intersections, including Regent Street, Auburn Road and the Park Road / Carlingford Road approaches.
- Investigate the impact of the two-lane merge on Park Road onto the Amy Street bridge.
- Review traffic conditions within the Regents Park town centre and station precinct, particularly during peak periods.
- Examine traffic movements through Mimulus Lane and other local streets, including potential "rat running" impacts on surrounding residential areas.
- Assess local area traffic management options, including traffic calming, access restrictions and one-way arrangements.
- Review the safety and traffic impacts of pedestrian crossings on Amy Street and consider opportunities to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
- Examine transport related issues including bus stop locations, parking management and traffic movements around local schools.
- Identify short-term and long-term options to improve safety, accessibility and the efficiency of the local transport network.

The consultation period runs from Monday 14 September 2026 to Tuesday 13 October 2026. During this community consultation period, residents, businesses and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on traffic and transport issues within Amy Street and Regents Park Town Centre.
Anyone wishing to provide feedback on the study must do so in writing by 4:00PM Tuesday 13 October 2026.
