Draft Code of Meeting Practice 2025

Cumberland City Council is giving notification of the proposed Draft Code of Meeting Practice 2025. The Code will exhibited for a minimum period of 42 days as resolved at the 24 September 2025 Council meeting. All submissions made to the Code will be made public and considered by Council. 


Policy overview 

The Code of Meeting Practice facilitates and guides the effective,open and orderly conduct of Council Meeting at Cumberland Council. It ensures clarity of process, and seeks to align Council Meeting procedures with community expectations of open and transparent government whilst complying with legislative requirements.

The Code of Meeting must accord with the Model document prescribed by the Office of Local Government. For more information on this, please refer to the Office of Local Government website.

Council values the opinions and suggestions of the community, and would appreciate your thoughts on Draft Code of Meeting Practice 2025.

During the consultation period, we encourage you to download a copy of the PROJECT DOCUMENTS in our document library.

The consultation period runs from Thursday 25 September 2025 to Thursday 6 November 2025. During this community consultation period, residents are encouraged to submit their comments on the proposal must do so in writing by 5pm Thursday 6 November 2025.
