Proposed Planning Framework: Berala Town Centre

FAQS

The Berala Town Centre and its surrounds require planning controls that reflect the needs of our current and future community. The proposed planning framework is a first step in outlining the vision for Berala that reflects the strategic approach outlined in Cumberland 2030: Our Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS).

A planning framework is a high-level document that outlines the principles and priorities in guiding development in an area. This framework is the first step in developing the vision for Berala Town Centre and surrounds that meets current and future needs of the local community.

Following early consultation, Council will review the submissions received on the proposed planning framework. This process will inform the preparation of detailed planning controls for sites within the town centre study area. Planning controls will then be presented to Council for endorsement. Once endorsed by Council, it will proceed to Gateway Determination by the NSW Government, followed by public consultation for further community consultation.

Council is seeking feedback on the new draft planning framework for Berala. Four consultation materials have been prepared and can be found on this webpage. Proposed Structure, Proposed Built Form, Proposed Access & Movement Network, Proposed Public Domain. We encourage you to review them and let us know your thoughts.
