Draft Children and Family Strategy 2026-2030

Have Your Say!

The Draft Children and Families Strategy 2026 – 2030 outlines a clear, strategic framework for Council over the next four years. It outlines a vision for delivering improved outcomes for children and building a dynamic, inclusive community enriched with opportunity for the youngest residents. Cumberland’s population is projected to grow by 30% over the next 20 years reaching an estimated 340,122 people by 2046 (Forcast.id, 2021). A notable increase in families with dependent children underscores the need for forward-looking, responsive service delivery.

The Draft Strategy aims to:

  • Ensure equitable access to programs and resources that promote wellbeing and development of Cumberland’s children and families.
  • Foster a secure and nurturing Cumberland for children, with a strong emphasis on child protection, taking active measure to prevent and reduce harm.
  • Empower children and families to actively develop and refine essential skills, fostering continuous learning and development.
  • Strengthen children and families' connection to their community, fostering meaningful engagement and active participation with Cumberland’s places.
