Get involved in one of Cumberland's Advisory Committees
September 2025 Expression of Interest:
At Council's 27 August meeting, Council endorsed undertaking a further round of Expressions of Interest for community membership for the following community advisory Committees:
- Heritage Advisory Commitee
- Library Advisory Commitee
- Youth Advisory Commitee
- Environment Advisory Commitee (New Committee)
As a result, Council is now seeking additional EOI'S from the community to ensure each of these four Committees have up to 10 Community Members appointed.
Individuals with a strong interest in environmental issues and a demonstrated commitment to local sustainability and conservation are sought for the new Environment Advisory Committee.This advisory Committee will provide strategic advice to Council on environmental matters, including but not limited to sustainability, biodiversity, green/open space planning, natural resource management including riparian zones, and the overall delivery of relevant Council strategies and programs. A draft Terms of Reference for this Committee will be reported to a future Council meeting for endorsement.

The Terms of Reference provides an overview of the responsibilities of the Advisory Committee, as well as how the Advisory Committee will operate. Please note that Members of an Advisory Committee are volunteers and are not remunerated for their time.
The Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Council's Advisory Committees are open from Monday 08 September 2025 to Monday 29 September 2025.

How to submit an Expression of Interest
Expressions of Interest for all the Committees to be made by 5pm Monday 29 September 2025.
There are three ways you can lodge an EOI nomination:
- Complete an online submission below.
- Email the completed Expression of Interest Nomination Form to:
Council@cumberland.nsw.gov.au, and quote subject line ‘Cumberland Advisory Committees Expression of Interest Nomination’.
Your email must be received by 5pm Monday 29 September 2025 in order for your nomination to be assessed. - Post the completed Expression of Interest Nomination Form to:

July 2025 Expression of Interest:
Council is in the process of establishing its Advisory Committees for the new Council term! The purpose of Council’s Advisory Committees are to meet and provide advice and make recommendations to Council on key topics or matters central to the Committee as outlined in their Terms of Reference adopted by Council. Council seeked nominations for members of the Advisory Committee for the new term of each committee, and encouraged our community to participate. Each Advisory Committee will have nominated Councillors sitting on them from the elected body, and are proposed to meet quarterly. The minutes of each Advisory Committee are reported to the Elected Council following the quarterly meetings.

- Arts, Culture and Events Advisory Committee
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultative (ATSIC) Committee
- Community Wellbeing and Inclusion Advisory Committee
- Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Advisory Committee
- Flood Risk Management Committee
- Heritage Advisory Committee
- Library Advisory Committee
- Youth, Recreation and Sport Advisory Committee
